We are a New York architecture and design studio.

Filament Architecture Studio is a full service architecture and interiors practice focused on the goals of every client. Our firm embraces a client-centric design philosophy where our clients vision, time line and budget come first and each project is highly customized to the client’s design objectives.  Each project is designed to maximize value and longevity.
 
We design with place in mind, where historic integrity, sustainable materials and methods result in resilient solutions no matter the budget nor the size of the project. We can push the envelope of the possible, often think out of the box and tell it like it is.
 
In addition to architectural services, we work with designers and consultants who need our expertise with code consulting and project management throughout the State of California and New York.

The firm is led by Michelle Krochmal, AIA. Michelle is  registered in New York and California to practice architecture.

Michelle first realized she wanted to be an architect while  reimagining  floor plans of model homes to fit her Barbie's lifestyle.  After attending the Cooper Union, Michelle spent the next decade exploring the country, living and practicing architecture in Southern California, San Francisco, and Boston before returning to New York City. Michelle loves a challenge and her best work comes out of the un-workable.
